Trump's Alarming Racist, Bigoted, and Antisemitic Comments

Introduction

During a black journalists conference in Illinois that occurred on July,31,2024, many were shocked to see former president Donald Trump question whether or not Vice President Kamala Harris is black. This is just the latest in Trump's long and unfortunate history of racist, bigoted, and antisemitic statements and comments that he has made in the past several years.

BIRTHERISM AND MORE RACIST STUFF

Trump's attendance at a black journalist conference was a fiasco with making a bunch of false statements, though the journalists there did a great job questioning him, and it was not a softball interview. After Biden suspended his campaign and Harris took over, some House Republican members attacked her for being a “DEI(Diversity Equity and Inclusion) hire.” House Republican leadership urged members and the party to avoid attacking Harris on racial issues. Trump did not take their advice. Trump repeated the egregious lie that Obama was not a US citizen and said that Kamala Harris “was Indian and later decided to be called black.”He called New York district attorney Alvin Bragg, who is black, an “animal” and called black prosecutors indicting him “racist.”He also told sitting members of Congress, who are United States citizens, to “go back to where they came from.”There are, of course, other bigoted and racist things like his attempts to exclude people from the country based on their religion and his “very fine people on both sides” comment following the Charlottesville, Virginia riot in 2017.

TRUMP DISTRIBUTING ANTISEMITIC STATEMENTS

One underreported element of Trump’s worrisome statements is his antisemitic actions and statements. For starters, he hosted Kayne West and Nick Fuentes for dinner at Maralago, both of whom have a history of egregious antisemitic statements. He claimed that Vice President Harris (her husband is Jewish, by the way) “doesn't like Jewish people.”He claimed (falsely, of course) that Senate majority leader Charles Schumer (who is Jewish) is a member of the terrorist group Hamas. He also said that Jewish people who vote Democrat “hate their religion.” his bet seems to be that Jewish individuals are a monolithic group, which they are not. By the way, eight million Americans are Jewish, and they do not necessarily all think the same way and do not exclusively care about Israel. That strategy will fail because, by the way, Democrats had made similar assumptions about Hispanic voters and immigration in the past, and it has not worked. It won’t work for Trump and the GOP with Jewish voters either. While there is antisemitism on both the left and the right, more accurately, the very far right and very far left in the majority of cases, and it is heinous no matter where it comes from, people should not overlook these blatantly antisemitic statements and actions made by former President Trump.

CONCLUSION: THIS BEHAVIOR PROVES HE IS UNFIT TO BE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

Trump's comments that are unequivocally antisemitic, racist, islamophobic, and flat-out offensive are wrong, and disqualifying the comments and actions mentioned above only begin to scratch the surface of the racially and religiously insensitive and downright offensive things he said and done for attention and fundraising including things not mentioned like his meetings with Hungary’s prime minister Viktor Orban who denounced who said “we don’t want a mixed-race society,” mocking a disabled reporter, calling Mexicans rapists and criminals and other remarks about immigration including saying that unauthorized immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country. It is time we acknowledge that the media holds Trump to a different standard than other elected officials or candidates in the United States. The media holds Donald Trump to a significantly lower standard. This a bad example for a country, and these comments and, worse, his refusal to sincerely apologize for these comments are disqualifying for any elected office by any reasonable standard. This behavior does not belong within a 1,500-mile radius of the white house it is time voters defeat him at the ballot box and kill his political career for good.
